Jump right into the action by forging your very own railroad spike knife! (Terrible knife but great experience!) This class runs four hours. This is most certainly a learn as you go class with NO EXPERIENCE necessary but very much encouraged. The goal of the class is to have the student use a coal forge and tools to hammer out something that vaguely resembles a knife with a twisted handle! Don’t worry, we have plenty of spikes for you to mess up!This is a great way to put both feet into the craft and have some fun doing it!
All tools and materials will be provided but the students does need to bring their own personal protective gear, including: Leather gloves (Please no mechanix gloves or anything with nylon or plastic), safety glasses, work boots, COTTON pants and shirt (Melting polyester sticks to skin), head covering, and something to drink. We will have extra PPE on hand in case you forget something. This is a relaxed class that’s more about fun than hard instruction so don’t be shy! As an added bonus, all students will get to tour the Sutton’s Corner Museum with -tons- of cool old stuff! Class will start PROMPTLY so don’t be late! Once you order your class, we will have all your information on hand, so just show up!
