Description
Purgatory Ironworks has been involved with the Ft. Gaines Historical society for many years, even helping put together their flagship museum some 15 years ago. For our fall fundraiser, we have made a special edition of our trade knives with a custom stamp featuring the Fort! All profit from the sale of these knives goes -directly- to support the Sutton’s Corner Museum and the work of the FGHS, in Ft. Gaines, Georgia. This past year has seen a burst of activity and these new funds help the FGHS put on monthly classes and events at the museum as well as funding the repair and upkeep of our treasured buildings! Thank you for your support! This run is only 10 knives of each Model so dont miss out! Knives can be shipped or you can select the “Pickup” Option and get your knife at the Museum!
These Trade Knives are based off of historical models during the late 1700’s and 1800’s. Made from 1095 steel right here in Morgan, Ga, the handles sport local grown native Pecan (1st cousin to Hickory) and custom leather sheaths, also made in house. The sheath sports a stamping of our beloved Fort on the front. These are not just pretty things, these knives will shave hair right out the box, holds a good edge, and will take on any deer cleaning tasks you have. The Model Three has a seven inch blade and is classed as a “fighting knife”. The old adage is that a big knife can do the job of a small one but not the other way around. These are our most popular models and really make a statement out of the box.
